Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra posts a stunning video but is this an exception in the classical music world?
Yes, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra releasing the video must be the most intense thing done by a music organization but don't forget music organizations all around the world are doing some ridiculous stuff to get "likes, comments, shares" etc. These organizations have no vision for the future, they are instaOrganizations caring only for the moment. These organizations are primarily orchestras who are occupied by the past and instant results instead of worrying about the soon to be non-existent future. They have no long term plan and most importantly they have no patience. The reason I mention the orchestras is because in major cities they are by far the largest musical organizations. This is to the administrative and artistic leaders of those orchestras, KEEP paying ridiculous fees to people who absolutely should not be getting those fees NOT because they don't deserve it but because the field just can't afford to pay those fees. Keep trying to blend in and be mainstream because that's what sells and continue living in the past. Also, keep inviting low level pop artists to sell tickets.
#1 goal of every major organization is to educate the youth because that's where we are behind. Using a small percentage of your resources for educational and outreach programs IS NOT acceptable. In the 21st century the focus of every major orchestra should be education. WHY Do these orchestras BEG, YES BEG for grants and sponsors? What do you do with that money? ASK that question? OVERPAY administrative and artistic leaders. Hundreds and thousands of dollars can be redistributed for better projects.
WE will realize what has happened after we have reached extinction. Till then invite the next pop act, sell tickets, and hope those fans will later come to an actual orchestra concert. If people don't know what an orchestra is how do you expect them to come to a concert? EDUCATE.
I will soon share the Music Director podcast explaining the actual role of major orchestra conductor, management companies and the mafias involved in all of what's happening.
